INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF SARAJEVO (IUS)

The International University of Sarajevo (IUS) was established in 2003. Currently, IUS has approximately 2,000 students from around 47 countries across different continents, studying at undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels.

Founded by the Foundation for Education Development in 2003, IUS is the most prestigious foundation university in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was established as a non-profit institution with the aim of strengthening educational ties between different nations and cultures. With its expert academic staff across five faculties, IUS offers undergraduate and graduate programs and is recognized by the Agency for Development of Higher Education and Quality Assurance (HEA), and is listed in the National Register of Accredited Higher Education Institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina. IUS is also an associate member of the European University Association (EUA). Six programs at IUS have received international accreditation from AQ Austria.

The IUS English Language School (ELS) has recently been accredited by EAQUALS (Evaluation and Accreditation of Quality Language Services), a Europe-based accreditation body with international recognition. The IUS English Language School is the first university preparatory English program in the Balkans to receive this international accreditation from EAQUALS.

The number of Turkish and non-Turkish citizens admitted to the joint program is determined annually by ITU and IUS and submitted for approval to the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Unless otherwise jointly revised by both institutions, the quotas are as follows:

* The maximum number of Turkish citizens admitted via the national university entrance exam (YKS) is 15 students per year (5 students for Economics).
* The maximum number of Bosnian citizens admitted is 15 students per year.
* International students may constitute up to 50% of the total annual quota.

For the Computer Engineering program, Turkish citizens who score below the top 50,000 ranking in the relevant YKS score type are not eligible to apply. For other programs, the requirement is to be within the top 100,000 in the relevant score type.

International applicants to ITU must comply with the “Application and Admission Guidelines for Undergraduate Programs for International Students” approved by the ITU Senate decision dated 19.04.2016 (No. 631).

Bosnian citizens may obtain information regarding application and admission requirements via https://www.ius.edu.ba/tr/contact.

Students who successfully complete two (2) academic years (four semesters) in good academic, disciplinary, and financial standing at IUS may continue their studies at ITU and obtain a bachelor’s degree from both institutions, provided they meet the required conditions.

For transfer from IUS to ITU, students must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 out of 4.0.

Students are required to fulfill all admission, orientation, registration, tuition, and payment requirements of both institutions within the specified deadlines. They must also comply with all applicable rules and procedures of the institution they are attending.
