ISTANBUL TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY

With a distinguished history of more than 250 years in technical education, Istanbul Technical University (ITU) has become synonymous with engineering and architectural education in Türkiye through its modern educational environment, strong academic staff, and advanced laboratories. During the Ottoman Empire, ITU pioneered modernization movements, and in the Republican era, it played a significant role in the reconstruction, modernization, and administration of the country. The contributions and efforts of ITU engineers and architects can be seen in Türkiye’s roads, bridges, dams, buildings, factories, power plants, communication networks, villages, and cities. ITU is a public university that has defined the engineering and architecture professions in Türkiye and has consistently updated these definitions, while preserving its traditions and offering modern educational opportunities. Through its strong international collaborations, ITU prepares students to compete not only nationally but also globally.

The Bioengineering Program established within the Faculty of Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering at ITU is a multidisciplinary program conducted with the participation of faculty members from the departments of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Food Engineering, and Molecular Biology. Students will benefit from modern equipment, infrastructure, and laboratories of the related departments in line with contemporary educational approaches.

The engineering departments involved in the program are accredited by the American Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). More information about the departments can be found at www.itu.edu.tr.
